McDonald’s February restaurant fall 1.7 pct
McDonald’s Corp’s (N:MCD) global sales at established restaurants dropped by 1.7% in February as sales in the United States were damaged by “hostile competitive activity”.
Sales at the company’s U.S. restaurants open for almost 13 months dropped by 4% last month, after rising 0.4% in each of the two previous months.
In February same-restaurant sales fell 4.4% in McDonald’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) business, which includes China.
That was a progress from the 12.6% fall in January, as declines related to the food scandals in China and Japan eased.
Analysts in common had estimated a 0.3% collapse in the company’s global same-restaurant sales in February, according to market analysts polled by research firm Consensus Metrix. That included estimated declines of 0.7% in the United States and 3.1% in APMEA. [ Source: Reuters ]
